Frequently asked Questions
How do I know which class is best for me?
It really depends on your experience with metalsmithing!
Our Beginner Single Session Workshops and Intro to Metalsmithing Series Classes are designed for both students with no prior metalsmithing and students that have a little metalsmithing experience and would like a refresher.
If you have previously completed our Intro to Metalsmithing Series Class or have the equivalent level of skill (basic knowledge of soldering with an acetylene/air torch, basic fabrication skills, and general knowledge of a jewelry studio) try one of our other series classes to continue to build on your studio skills.
Please get in touch with us if you have questions about our class offerings. We will be happy to assist in placing you in the right class!
Does Fuse offer Workshops for Kids & teens?
Yes, we do! Students aged 12-14 can take our classes with a parent or guardian enrolled in the class with them. Students aged 15 and up can take our classes independently, but please note that a parent/guardian will need to be present to sign paperwork at the beginning of the class, and we do ask that a parent/ guardian be reachable throughout the duration of the class.
If a minor participating in one of our classes is unable to follow our studio’s safety protocols or is hindering the instructor’s ability to maintain a safe learning environment, we reserve the right to call their parent/guardian to pick them up early from class. Please take a moment to honestly assess your child’s attention needs, listening skills, and patience for challenging fine motor tasks before signing them up for one of our workshops. If you are unsure whether a class is a good fit for your child, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
What if i already have jewelry tools? do i need to purchase the tool & material kit for my class?
All basic tools are provided for each student at their bench to use during class. The tool kits for the series classes include some more specific, additional tools that we use in the class projects but then are yours to keep at the end of class.
You can bring your tools and we can adjust your kit price to just charge you for the materials (metal & gems) for the class projects. We can't do individual tool discounts but if you would prefer to bring and/or purchase the tools for your kit yourself that is definitely an option.
Please contact us via our CONTACT form for a full tool list for your specific class and we’ll be happy to help determine the right option for you.
